What you'll need
Before you get started make sure you:
- Set up Wero either with the Wero app or the Wero function built into your mobile banking app.
- Link at least one bank account to Wero as your payment source.
- Have your recipient's phone number, email address, or QR code. You don't need their IBAN!
Method 1: Sending Money from the Wero App
- Launch the Wero app
- Select the bank account you want to use as the payment source
- Enter the amount you want to send
- Tap "Send"
- Pick your recipient by either:
Pro-Tip: Make sure to always
double-check that the beneficiary account holder name matches that of the intended recipient
to avoid any
mistakes.
- Feel free to write a short message and add up to three fun large emojis to make it personal.
- Slide the arrow to the right and authenticate and confirm the payment using Face ID, fingerprint, or your PIN.
Done! Your payment will be instantly credited to your beneficiary's account and if your recipient has activated notifications they will be notified as soon as the payment lands in their account.
Method 2: Sending Money from Your Mobile Banking App
The core steps are the same as in the Wero app, though the look and navigation may differ depending on your bank.
- Open your banking app and find the Wero feature
- Select your payment source, enter the amount, and choose your recipient
- Authenticate and confirm using your bank's usual security method
Done! Your payment is sent instantly.

Good to know:
- The options to Send/Request will be greyed out until you enter the amount.
- Wero payments are final and cannot be canceled once authorised. Ensure all payment details are correct before you confirm the payment.
- The money is sent instantly via SEPA Instant Credit Transfer
- Your contacts can also directly request the amount by presenting you with a QR code. Just scan it to complete the payment.
- The system maximum is €100,000 per payment, but your bank may set lower limits. Please contact your bank's support directly if you have questions about limits.
