How do I pay in store?
Paying from a shop's payment device
Some shops let you pay with Wero by scanning a QR code shown on their payment device; a terminal screen, pin pad, pole display or self-checkout kiosk. Instead of tapping a card, you scan the code with your phone and approve the payment in your Wero wallet.
- Select Wero as your payment method at the checkout (on the terminal screen or with the cashier).
- The payment terminal displays a QR code on screen.
- Open your Wero wallet (in the Wero app or your banking app).
- Tap Scan and scan the QR code:
- If you are using the Wero wallet, the payment details will be displayed directly in the app for you to confirm.
- If you are using your native camera, you'll see a URL preview, tap it to be redirected to the Wero app where you can confirm the payment.
- Review the payment details (merchant name, amount).
- Approve the payment using Face ID, fingerprint or PIN.
- The payment is confirmed on both the payment terminal and your wallet and is instantly processed.
Paying with a Wero sticker QR code
Some shops display a Wero QR code on a sticker or fixed surface, for example on a payment terminal, vending machine, parking meter or charging station. Scanning it lets you pay straight from your phone.
- Open your Wero wallet or Wero-enabled banking app and select Scan.
- Scan the sticker QR code.
- Review the shop name and amount.
- Confirm using your usual authentication.
💡Helpful tips
Hold your phone directly in front of the screen.
Avoid reflections on glossy terminal displays.
If the QR code disappears or expires, ask the store to generate a new one.
If the payment takes too long, check your internet connection.
✅ Good to know
-
One-time or reusable, depending on the QR code:
- QR codes shown on a payment terminal or screen are made to be use one time. They expire immediately after approval or rejection, and the shop generates a new one for each transaction.
- QR codes on stickers are static. They stay in place and can be scanned multiple times, by multiple people.
- No sensitive data is shared through the QR code. It contains only a secure link; never your name, IBAN, email or phone number.
- No card or IBAN is shared with the shop.
Feature availability may vary depending on your bank and your country of residence.
