How does Wero verify my identity?

As a regulated payment service, Wero must verify your identity. This is how we keep Wero and your money safe.

When you set up Wero, your bank shares your basic identity information with us. This is a standard security step required by law to keep payments safe.

We carry out all the necessary steps to comply with our legal obligations and to know our consumers.

What information is shared?

Your bank provides details about you and your bank account. This happens automatically when you add your bank account to the Wero app.

How is this information used?

Your identity details are checked against security databases to help prevent any security breach. This check happens when you first set up Wero, and your information is monitored on an ongoing basis.

If something needs further review, your account may be temporarily restricted until the check is complete.

What happens if I update my details?

If you update your personal information through your bank, the updated details are automatically sent to Wero and re-checked.

Good to know: This verification only applies when you use the Wero app. If you use Wero through your mobile banking app, your bank will handle the verification itself.

If you would like to know more about how we keep your money safe, please refer to our Terms and Conditions.
