Subscriptions are easy to start, but can be harder to keep track of. Wero brings them all together in one place so you can always see who you're paying, how much, and when.
You can set up and manage your subscriptions directly from your Wero app. Whether it's a streaming service, a gym membership or a magazine subscription, you can create, manage and track all your subscriptions in one place.
What is a subscription?
A subscription is a recurring payment plan between you and a merchant. Instead of having to make the same payment every month, you can agree once to a set of conditions including the amount and frequency of your payments, so the merchant can charge you automatically at the agreed interval, for example once a month or every year.
Your Wero app clearly displays all the details of a subscription before you agree to start it:
💰 Amount per billing period
📅 Subscription start date
📅 First payment date
🔁 Billing frequency (e.g. monthly or annually)
📅 End date (if you decide to set one)
If you do not have an end date, your wallet will display a message letting you know the subscription continues until you cancel it.
How do I set a subscription?
Setting up a subscription is simple:
- Choose a subscription on the merchant's website or app
- Select Wero as your payment method
- Open your Wero app. All the detaild of the subscription plan will appear
- Review the conditions carefully
- Confirm the subscription using your phone's biometric security (fingerprint or face recognition) to give your consent
That's it! Once you have given your consent payments will be taken automatically according to the billing cycle. If the subscription includes a free trial, no payments will be taken until the trial period ends.
How can I change my subscription's bank account?
If you want to use a different bank account for your subscription payments, you can change it directly in the Wero app:
- Open your Wero app and navigate to Settings> Subscriptions.
- Select the subscription you want to update.
- Choose a new payment method (bank account).
- You will be prompted to re-authenticate and consent to using the new payment method.
- Payments will be taken from the account selected.
How can I cancel a subscription?
When you want to cancel a subscription, we always recommend going through the merchant. This ensures that both the contractual agreement and the payment side are properly handled and you don't end up unexpectedly owing any money.
Step 1: Cancel with the merchant
- Go to the merchant's website or app
- Follow their cancellation process
- Once cancelled, the merchant will stop requesting payments and may notify your Wero app
Step 2: Revoke consent in your Wero app
After cancelling with the merchant, it's good practice also to revoke the consent in your wallet n case we haven’t been correctly notified: :
- Open your Wero app and view your active subscriptions
- Select the subscription
- Tap Revoke consent to ensure no further payments can be taken
What if I use Wero from my mobile banking app?
If you use Wero directly within your bank’s mobile app, the steps and screens may look slightly different as they are designed and integrated by your bank. But you will have the same features and level of control as in the Wero app.
If you have any questions about using Wero within your mobile banking app, please contact your bank’s customer support team directly.
What about security?
Wero is designed to keep your subscriptions safe:
🔐 A strong security check (fingerprint or face recognition) is required when you first approve a subscription
🔒 No sensitive payment data is shared between you and the merchant
✅ Your bank verifies your consent before processing each payment
📲 If you lose your device and reinstall your Wero wallet with the same account, all your active subscriptions are automatically restored
Feature availability may vary depending on your bank and country of residence.
